all definitions of religion which begin by assuming that worship of animals, ancestors, nature, or similar fetishes are the source from which all other forms come from, are destined to fail. in the beginning, beliefs were jumbled up completely, and different kinds of religions took literally ages to emerge to the point where they were even discernable from one another.
