International Mother Language Day: Focusing on South Sudan's Local Languages in Education

On this year's International Mother Language Day, UNESCO emphasizes the importance of mother tongue in enabling effective learning. The mother tongue  day was commemorated under the theme  “Multilingual education is a pillar of intergenerational learning.” We speak to Becu Thomas, the National Professional Officer for Culture at UNESCO South Sudan on how the country can promote the use of local languages both in schools and at home.
