Vidar Hjardeng MBE - Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands, AD Theatre Review

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey is joined again by Vidar Hjardeng MBE, Inclusion and Diversity Consultant for ITV News across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands for the next in his regular Connect Radio theatre reviews.
This week Toby and Vidar both share their thoughts on going to see the return of Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands which carved a place in the hearts of audiences worldwide since its premiere back in 2005.
Toby was at Sadler’s Wells on Saturday 13 January for the described performance while Vidar attended the recent described performance at the Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre on Saturday 10 February at 2.30pm with description for the whole tour by Professional Audio Describer Caroline Burn.

Based on the classic Tim Burton movie and featuring the hauntingly beautiful music of Danny Elfman and Terry Davies, Bourne and his New Adventures Company return to this witty, bittersweet story of an incomplete boy left alone in a strange new world.
In a castle high on a hill lives Edward; a boy created by an eccentric inventor. When his creator dies he is left alone and unfinished with only scissors for hands until a kindly townswoman invites him to live with her suburban family. Can Edward find his place in the well-meaning community which struggles to see past his curious appearance to the innocence and gentleness within?
