Pennsylvania Man Charged with Beheading Father and Posting Disturbing Video
Feb 01, 11:00 AM
A horrifying crime has shocked the quiet community of Middletown Township, Bucks County, as 32-year-old Justin Mohn has been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with the gruesome murder of his father, Michael F. Mohn. The incident, which involved a shocking YouTube video, unfolded on Tuesday night.
Police were alerted to the scene around 7 p.m. when the victim's wife returned home and discovered her husband's decapitated body covered in blood in their home on Upper Orchard Drive. The situation took a sinister turn when officers found the victim's head in a plastic bag inside a kitchen pot placed in a first-floor bedroom. A police affidavit revealed the presence of bloody rubber gloves, a machete, and a large kitchen knife in the bathtub on the second floor.
Middletown Township Police Captain Pete Feeney commented on the unusual nature of the crime, stating, "As far as the crime itself, it's not something we typically see here."
In addition to the horrific scene at the crime scene, Justin Mohn posted a disturbing 14-minute YouTube video titled "Mohn's Militia - Call to Arms for American Patriots." In the video, he held up his father's severed head, identified him by name, and expressed extremist views, including threats against federal agencies. He referred to himself as a militia leader and accused his father, a federal employee for 20 years, of being a traitor to the country. Mohn also discussed President Joe Biden in the video.
The video gained notoriety, with over 5,000 views before it was removed from the platform. Captain Feeney stated, "There's plenty of evidence to process, I'm sure they'll be reviewing that video."
Following a manhunt, police were able to track Justin Mohn by pinging his cell phone to Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County, approximately 100 miles from the crime scene. Local police put the area on lockdown, and they later located the Toyota Corolla he had been driving abandoned outside the Indiantown Gap National Guard training facility. Mohn was apprehended on the base property, reportedly in possession of a firearm, but he was arrested without incident around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla reassured the community, saying, "I think the neighborhood can rest easy because I think they were a little uneasy for a while before they knew where the person of interest was."
Justin Mohn, who also faces a weapons possession charge, was arraigned early Wednesday and is being held without bail. His hearing is scheduled for February 8.
The Bucks County district attorney's office did not provide a public comment about the case on Wednesday. There was no attorney listed for Mohn in court records, and attempts to seek comment on his behalf were unsuccessful.
The motive behind this horrifying act is still under investigation as the community tries to come to terms with the shocking events that unfolded in their midst.
