Episode 2561, Nov 11, 2023, 08:29 AM
President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday 03rd November reconstituted the National Constitutional Review Commission (NCRC), National Elections Commission (NEC), and the Political Parties Council (PPC) and appointed officials to lead the three institutions.
The appointment comes ahead of the country’s first-ever general elections planned for the end of the transitional period in December 2024, as per the 2018 peace agreement.
The reconstitution has been broadly welcomed nationally and by international partners. The African Union Mission in South Sudan (AUMISS), IGAD and UNMISS in a statement commended the government for initiating the process and urged swift implementation of outstanding tasks.
So, what next after the reconstitution of these key institutions?
Host Sani Martin and his panelists delve into the significance and implications of the reconstitution on the peace process.
