Charity Chief Exec's Customer Update 4 November 2023

Season 2, Episode 209,   Nov 03, 2023, 01:00 PM

Each week we sit down with Matt Stringer, CEO of RNIB, to look at some of the big stories coming from the UK sight loss charity.

Matt began this week by talking about the great news that the government have decided to scrap the closures to railway ticket offices following thousands and thousands of blind and partially sighted people taking part in the consultation and writing to their MP’s as well as all the campaigning work the RNIB and our sight loss sector partners have done around the proposed closures. Then to the new RNIB #BeforeYouAsk campaign which was launched this week.

Finally to the new Netflix series ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ based on Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer prize winning Novel of the same name, set in the final days of WWII, as the paths of Marie-Laura a blind French girl and Werner a German soldier collide with Marie-Laura being played by Aria Mia Loberti in her first major screen role as a blind Actor. All the partnership work between the RNIB and Netflix around access to TV and film for visually impaired people and the preview screening of the first episode to an invited audience of blind and partially sighted people on Monday 30 October 2023 at the Everyman Cinema, Broadgate, London.
