A wrongfully convicted man who was exonerated after spending 14 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit was shot and killed in a traffic stop. A Camden County deputy stopped 53-year-old Leonard Allan Cure on Interstate 95 around 7:30 a.m. Monday, for an alleged speeding violation. Cure got out of the vehicle at the deputy’s request, the GBI said, and he “complied with the officer’s commands until learning that he was under arrest.” A physical struggle ensued after the officer deployed a taser on Cure, ending in a single gunshot.
