Moments In Vaucluse

"After listening through to the field recording a number of times, closing my eyes, I imagined I was there. I wanted to convey the moments between awake and sleep - those hypnogogic states in which auditory illusions can happen. The field recording includes insects, birdsongs, the gentle rusting of grass and the calm atmosphere. Initially, I used the sound mostly unprocessed but as the composition developed, I began to sample and loop small phrases to created subtle rhythmical patterns and when put together with the musical elements, began to create a wash where all of the sound slowly began merging into a soundscape reminiscent to me of a dream state.
