Ciclo do sono

"Our assigned field recording, captured in a Portuguese natural area near Vila Velha de Ródão, lulled us into daydreams that morphed into a short and pleasant nap. The familiar and comfortable feeling of bobbing up and down between conscious listening and unconscious sleep became an inspiration for this composition. Research into the human sleep cycle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_cycle) provided a template for construction of a sonic journey that compresses this natural 90-minute cycle into three minutes of auditory metaphor.

"Initial pulses of transition to shallow subconsciousness give way to deeper sequences of resonant drone layered with smears of tonal abstraction. A sudden and disorienting period of REM cycle dreaming flashes bright and loud, a cloud of chopped components sourced from the original recording. The listener arrives back into the realm of conscious listening, their ears refreshed and receptive while lingering vibrations from the nap continue to rattle."
