Into the dreaming forest

"This field recording of a song thrush in Oxfordshire, England inspired me to set out to create a piece of 'music for sleep' which evoked a sense of crossing a threshold between two adjacent contrasting landscapes, and of boundaries gradually blurring and warping. My idea was to emulate the sensations of hovering between waking and sleep. The sounds I used for my reimagined piece were all ultimately with this aim in mind.
"I wanted to invite a sense of physically letting go, of being carried effortlessly, of surrendering to a dream-smudged images and sensations, to capture a beckoning twilit embrace of the forest air, a gentle mysterious unfolding.
As someone who often finds sleep elusive, I designed this piece to perhaps help me to wind down before bed. I hope that maybe it might even help someone else achieve this too..."
