Not long after the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Saturday 6 May 2023 the transformed Jewel House at the Tower of London re-opened to the public with a new exhibition going deeper in to the background and history of many of the items from the Crown Jewels Collection that are on display in the Jewel House.

Following on from more audio description and visual awareness training from VocalEyes the Tower of London are now able to offer bookable guided audio described tours of the transformed Jewel House along with new tactile replicas of some of the Crown Jewels collection with accompanying raised text and Braille.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey recently visited the Tower of London to experience the re-opened transformed Jewel House through a guided audio described tour lead by Mike one of the Warders at the Tower of London which really did bring the Crown Jewels to life for Toby.

After the tour Toby met up with Dominique Driver, Interpretation Manager, Historic Royal Palaces and Charles Farris Public Historian from the Tower of London to find out more about the transformed Jewel House, the new exhibition and more about the background and stories behind some of the items that are on display from the Crown Jewells collection.
