Vidar Hjardeng MBE - RSC As You Like It, AD Theatre Review
Season 2, Episode 86, Aug 11, 2023, 02:00 PM
RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey is joined again by Vidar Hjardeng MBE, Inclusion and Diversity Consultant for ITV News across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands for the next in his regular Connect Radio theatre reviews.
As 2023 marks 400 years since the publication of Shakespeare’s first folio which includes the comedy play As You Like It, this week Vidar was taken into the rehearsal room with Omar Elerian’s Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of As You Like It on Friday 4 August at 7.15pm with description by Professional Audio Describers Ellie Packer and Julia Grundy.
Toby first asked Vidar whether setting this production of As You LikeIt in the rehearsal room gave Vidar a new perspective and view point on Shakespeare’s comedy.
About the production:
When the cast of As You Like It returns to the rehearsal room after 40 years, memories are reawakened and old friends reconnect, but the rehearsal room is just the beginning and a journey full of surprises awaits.
Let Omar Elerian’s bold reimagining transport you to a world beyond the Forest of Arden where time stops and the clock unwinds to take us on an adventure where playfulness reigns.
