Campo San Barnaba - all in

"When I listened to the source field recording, which contains many different voices, it became clear that I wanted to add more voices, singing voices, my voice. Then a man in the recording says " Können Sie das nochmal machen" (it is german and means : can you do it again) "Sure!" I thought and of course I had to repeat parts of the file. I did not use any equalisers or filters on the original sound, I did not want to change its natural sound, only in the beginning I slowed one short part down. My aim was to change the sound through layering, repeating, doubling, reordering , dynamics and the collation with the musical part I then added. Singing and instruments, these sounds in contrast are filtered and manipulated. When I heard steps in the source recording I wanted to emphasize them, thinking of the wooden bridge over the Canale Grande (which is a 6 minute walk from Campo San Barnaba). In the end, I repeat all the voices and sounds which were most characterising for me, which gives my piece its name : Campo San Barnaba - all in."
