Threshold memories

"The port of Alexandria is by some accounts the oldest port in the world. I find a port to be both a threshold where sea meets land but also a way of meeting and connecting with people. In that sense, ports are among the most important places in human civilization, enabling us to communicate and transport both ourselves and goods between countries and continents. 

"A seaport can also be a sanctuary from troubled seas. In this piece we are invited to embark on an imaginary journey, with the help of a recording of waves at the port of Alexandria. It may transport us through our memory to many possible places of connection, both places and people."
