The UN Special Envoy for South Sudan says 2023 is a “make or break” year for the country.

The Special Representative to the Secretary General SRSG Nicholas Haysom has describe 2023 as a crucial year for South Sudan.
In his address to the UN Security Council in New York, Mr. Haysom said it is possible for South Sudan to keep its commitment to hold elections in December 2024 but only if there is a political will.
The SRSG stressed that the leaders of South Sudan are facing a stark choice of implementing the peace agreement to its successful end or take a low road to conflict and self-interest.
