The removal of a photograph of the alleged double murderer Alex Murdaugh's grandpa from the courtroom in South Carolina where his trial began on Wednesday was a heartbreaking sign of the once-powerful family's fall from favor. The portrait had been hanging in the courtroom since the trial began.
As the opening statements were being made in the trial of his grandson in Walterboro, the Honorable Judge Clifton Newman issued an order that the portrait of the late 14th Circuit Solicitor Randolph "Buster" Murdaugh Jr. be taken down.
