After a shock Matchday 1 defeat to Japan, Germany have kept their FIFA World Cup ambitions alive following a 1-1 draw with Spain.
The result leaves Louis Enrique's side atop of Group E with four points, with Japan and Costa Rica on three, separated by goal difference. So while Germany remain bottom of the table with a solitary point, they know a victory over Costa Rica will see them into the knockout stages if Spain defeat Japan.
