5. Four more communities have been earmarked for shared banking hubs - becoming the latest on a list of 27 areas waiting for services to begin.

At these hubs, customers of any bank will be able to access their accounts, deposit cash and cheques, and withdraw money at any time. Only two have opened so far, while hundreds of bank branches have closed.

1. The cost of making a cup of tea went up significantly as food prices continued to rise at record rates in October, the British Retail Consortium said.

Costs for tea bags, milk and sugar all rose as food price inflation jumped from 10.6% last month to 11.6%, the BRC-NielsenIQ price index found.
