50-year-old man charged with beating and burying daughter alive in backyard.
Greene County Child and Youth Services alerted Pennsylvania State Police on Oct. 19 about a child abuse suspect. The 6-year-old victim said John Kraft "hit her with his fists, a belt, and his metal-implanted arm."
The girl alleged Kraft "choked her senseless and beat her head off the floor and walls"
Kraft allegedly "buried the girl in the backyard" to punish her.
The victim said she would be left in the yard until she disclosed the truth and would emerge unclean and stinking like sewage.
Face, arm, and buttocks were bruised, the statement added. The abuse happened in September.
Kraft has been indicted on 15 charges, including aggravated violence and endangering the welfare of minors.
His bond was set at $125,000.
KDKA-TV: The victim and her sibling are in foster care.
Greene County District Attorney David Russo reportedly said, "The allegations are that this child was beaten brutally, that the child had bruises all over her body, that she was choked to the point that she had passed out. She was buried in a hole as punishment. She was thrown in a hole overnight. Her head was slammed off the wall and slammed off the floor. This is a barbaric situation."
