RNIB Voice of the Customer Focus Groups Update - Travel and Transport
Season 1, Episode 1385, Oct 31, 2022, 09:00 AM
There are many ways that blind and partially sighted people can get involved in the work that the RNIB does around making a more inclusive society for blind and partially sighted people and even shape the future of the RNIB too.
One way is through the regular Voice of the Customer Focus Group meetings and in this update on the work of the focus groups it was all about travel and transport for blind and partially sighted people.
RNIB Connect Radio's Toby Davey was joined by Ross Hedley RNIB Knowledge and Communications Manager plus Elanor McCombe and Karen Wye two visually impaired focus group members to find out more about the recent focus group meeting on travel and transport.
Ross began by telling Toby about how the Voice of the Customer Focus Group meetings fits in with the wider work of the RNIB Voice of the Customer Research programme and how the group meetings help to bring the voice of blind and partially sighted people to the forefront of all the work the RNIB is doing around inclusion for blind and partially sighted people.
Elanor and Karen then talked about why they wanted to take part in the focus groups, what they gain from being part of the groups including the opportunity to help to make changes, have your voice heard and meet other visually impaired people at the group meetings.
Ross then talked about the key learnings from the recent meetings around travel and transport before Elanor and Karen shared some of their experiences of using transport as visually impaired people and how providing services like talking buses can help everyone too.
