Cowboys beat writer Calvin Watkins takes us back 20 years ago, to the week Emmitt Smith surpassed Walter Payton to become the NFL’s all-time leading rusher. It was an amazing achievement for Smith, who grew up in Pensacola, Fla., dreaming he’d break one of the most cherished records in sports. In honor of Smith’s accomplishment, Calvin spoke to the people who lived it, from Smith himself to teammates Daryl Johnston, Darren Woodson and Chad Hutchinson.
