Episode 17, Oct 27, 2022, 09:00 AM
The body of his missing 83-year-old mother-in-caregiver law's was found buried in her garden, prompting an arrest and charge against the person.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reported Rebecca Seay missing on March 2. She apparently had a medical problem that would make it challenging for her to go back on her own.
Her bones were discovered a week later, wrapped in sheets, and buried in her garden, about 2 feet beneath a flower bed, according to the police, who spoke to WREG-TV. Reportedly, a box containing her son's ashes found close to her body.
According to WREG, Seay's body exhibited no overt symptoms of trauma, and her cause of death was unknown. Nevertheless, Seay apparently slipped out of bed before passing away and was taken to the hospital six days later.
On Jan. 22, after she was discharged from the hospital, Greg Tanner was apparently the last person to see Seay alive. Tanner became his mother-in-caretaker law's when a doctor informed him that his mother-in-law had dementia and was worsening and that hospice care would be suitable, according to WREG.
Tanner reportedly signed for the box containing Seay's ashes when it was delivered to a funeral home on September 16.
Over $24,600 was deducted from Seay's account between January 7 and March 7, according to investigators who spoke with WREG. Tanner used her account to gamble online while making the deductions. Authorities reportedly also discovered cheques with Seay's falsified signature totaling more than $80,000 in value.
According to documents, Tanner was detained on October 24 and charged with forgery, financial exploitation of an aged or vulnerable person, identity theft, and abuse of a corpse in addition to theft of property between $60,000 and $250,000. He is still detained on a $150,000 bond.
