The market shifts, but home prices continue to soar

Home prices are going down in the US but not in Greenville (not yet, at least). Home prices were up 17.5% year-on-year for the month of September, which is shocking given the shifts occurring in the market, including soaring inventory, higher days on market, and lower percent of list price received. What does all this mean, and where is the real estate market headed in the upcoming months?
