Episode 12, Oct 18, 2022, 09:00 AM
A man in his 70s recently admitted to stabbing his wife of 65 to death in 2019 after she discovered his financial deception.
According to the Iowa City Press-Citizen, on April 5, 2019, at around 7 a.m., Roy Browning called police to report that his wife, JoEllen Browning, was unresponsive in the house. It was said that she had been stabbed in the hand, as well as in the front and back of her torso.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that the victim was the victim of a homicide. Clippings of the victim's fingernails reportedly contained DNA matching that of Roy Browning.
According to KCCI-reporting, TV's JoEllen Browning and her husband were supposed to meet with a financial institution on the day she was fatally stabbed.
Apparently, in April, JoEllen emailed her husband about some discrepancies she had noticed in their bank accounts, and she asked him to contact the bank directly. The banker was reportedly going to tell the Brownings that Roy had taken out high-interest loans without JoEllen's knowledge and that money had been withdrawn from a joint account. This was reported by the Iowa City Press-Citizen. It has been reported that JoEllen had a $2 million retirement and life insurance policy.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that Roy entered a guilty plea to one count of second-degree murder on Wednesday, October 12. He had previously pleaded not guilty in November 2019. There is talk that Roy could get a maximum of 50 years in prison if convicted. According to court documents, he is still being held in the Johnson County Jail on $5 million bail despite having a sentencing date set for December 2.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that JoEllen was an administrator with the University of Iowa health system before her untimely passing.Share YOUR Crazy Family Story With Us Now!!
