Take Up Your Cross

Crucifixion is one of the most brutal forms of execution the world has known. For hours or days, the one crucified endured excruciating pain, longing for death to come quickly. Knowing this, it might seem strange that Jesus told His hearers that they must "take up their own cross" and follow Him. What did Jesus mean by this command and how does one take up a cross daily?
