Man Strangles Babies In Hospital While GF Gives Birth | Fear Thy Family
Episode 10, Oct 14, 2022, 09:00 AM
While his pregnant girlfriend was in the hospital giving birth in Texas, a man allegedly strangled their two newborn children.
Authorities say an 18-year-old man entered a hospital's nursery and began choking infants.
A disturbance was reported at Odessa Regional Medical Center on Monday, October 3, according to the Odessa Police Department. People working in the hospital told police that a man "forced his way into the nursery and began assaulting patients and staff."
According to the police report, 18-year-old suspect Marcus McCowan Jr. "was aggressive toward officers, which led to a physical altercation."
McCowan allegedly tried to remove an officer’s gun from the holster.
According to McCowan's arrest affidavit, the incident took place at 6:30 p.m. while he was visiting his pregnant girlfriend at the hospital. Apparently, he went to the nursing station, grabbed an employee by the arm, and uttered a "unintelligible" phrase. The nurse reportedly asked him to leave, and he allegedly began running around the hallway.
A mother who was holding her newborn claims that McCowan stared at her, prompting her to move the baby. The report continues, saying that he ran at the nurses and shoved them as he tried to enter the nursery.
McCowan is accused of grabbing a baby he saw outside the nursery and taking it to the lactation room when he was denied entry. One of the nurses reportedly saw him put his hands around the infant's neck; however, the nurses were able to rescue the baby.
A respiratory therapist claims to have seen McCowan enter the nursery and begin strangling another infant. It was also said that he picked up the infant and began shaking her. The affidavit states that the child's skin tone changed to blue.
It appeared as though he was about to throw the infant to the ground after allegedly telling it to "die." The respiratory therapist successfully got McCowan down to the floor, where the kid's head was safe.
According to his booking records, McCowan was taken into custody on two counts of attempted capital murder, as well as criminal trespass, assault, attempted weapon takeaway from an officer, resisting arrest, and drug possession. "Numerous charges are pending," the Odessa Police Department said.
Two infants, two nurses, and an Odessa police officer were named as victims by the department.
