For sexually exploiting two children, a 33-year-old man was recently given a term of nearly 40 years in jail.
The U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama claims that the investigation began in September 2020 after officials in Dallas, Texas, became aware of sexting among children using the Kik messaging app.
Brandon Hart was identified as the source of the photographs. According to the State's Attorney, Hart admitted to coercing two minors into "sexually explicit activities for him to photograph." He took pictures of the kids while they were out cold, and then he shared them on Kik.
According to the Alabama Real-Time News, Hart was initially charged with 40 felonies in September 2020. These included sodomy, voyeurism, and sexual torture.
According to documents obtained by the Alabama Real-Time News, the inquiry resulted in the conclusion that Hart "sodomized, sexually abused, and sexually tormented the youngsters" as well as creating, transmitting, and owning several sexually graphic photographs and films of minors.
Although Hart entered a not guilty plea on June 29, the Attorney General's Office announced on September 30 that he had been sentenced to 38 years in prison and would be subject to lifetime supervision upon his release. Also, Hart must report himself as a sexual offender.
