Why can't we criminalize the abandonment of unborn children? The child's life and health is at risk if one partner abandons the other, yet the law does not penalize this if the partners are unmarried. The law should lay out and enforce the required responsibilities of parents, regardless of marital status or the unexpected nature of the pregnancy.
