Aisla - Creativity and Wellbeing etc - Poetry and Trans Rights

Episode 42,   Sep 09, 2022, 04:03 PM

Today I speak to Aisla Houghton-Foster about her new book of poetry ‘Edging Gradually Towards Oblivion’ which is available on Amazon at the following link - https://www.amazon.com/Aisla-Houghton-Foster/e/B09ZXQB9TP%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share

We talk about the creative process, how to publish a book, and how Aisla’s life informs her poetry, from her experiences as a trans-woman and her mental health battles, to the sheer joy of listening to blues music in an Irish Bar in Liverpool. Despite its title the book is about hope and the human experience as well as the difficulties that can be part of our lives. We also talk about freedom of speech, the responsibility that goes with it, and touch on some of the culture war issues that are so live at the moment.

Aisla is also available on Tik Tok at @ahf.writes and two good links are https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMNctPj7P/ (for poetry) and https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMNcnNYXH/ (for trans issues).

Aisla’s website is ahfwrites.com and contact details are on my website. You can also buy the book here.

A good website for trans support is genderedintelligence.co.uk

Another good site is transliverpool.com
