In this week’s podcast, Erno Tenhunen, Managing Director of Danfoss Editron, discusses the role of electrification in shipping’s energy transition. He explains the company’s work on the Horizon 2020 E ferry project to electrify a ferry operating on the regional route between Søby and Fynshav in Denmark and considers the importance of industry collaboration in such initiatives. He also offers his perspectives on one of shipping’s key decarbonisation challenges – how much of maritime transport can be electrified?

In his current role, Erno oversees the development of new systems and leads the company’s marine business. He also oversees the operations of the Editron division’s global marine teams across areas including Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific. Before joining Danfoss Editron, Erno spent over 20 years at ABB where he became Vice President of Sales and Global Sales Manager for specific marine segments, such as icebreakers and cruise vessels. Erno holds a Master in Energy Technology degree from LUT University.

Danfoss Editron builds electric hybrid powertrain systems for heavy duty and commercial vehicles and machines, on both land and sea.
