In a series of interviews here on RNIB Connect Radio we are talking with a range of blind and partially sighted people to find out what life is really like living with sight loss, how they have coped throughout their life with the level of sight they have and the advice they would give to other people who might be starting to lose their sight or finding it difficult to cope with the level of sight they might have or have had during their life.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with Karen Wye from the sunny coast of the South East of England who has lived with Myopia since childhood and was registered as partially sighted in 2015.

Karen began by telling Toby about her life before being registered as partially sighted, how she with the help of an RNIB Counsellor managed to get through what was quite a tricky time for Karen as not only having to deal with losing her sight she was also going through a bit of a tricky time in her home life too. Karen talks about how her grown up sons who have now left home don’t really understand her sight loss as they really think of Karen before she was registered as partially sighted.

Karen also talks about the great support she has had from the RNIB since being registered back in 2015 and about all her volunteer work she does not only with the RNIB and the Connect Groups but also for Dorset Blind Association.
