16th May 2022 - Tech News & Reviews on BBC Surrey & Sussex
May 18, 2022, 09:51 PM
Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Danny Pike on BBC Radio Surrey & Sussex to discuss the latest tech news and reviews. This time there's the pick of the best software and gadgets, plus as Apple announces the end of the iPod, its inventor, Tony Fadell, warns about the dangers the 'metaverse' could bring.
First Gadget of the Week is Lastpass. With our having to remember so many passwords for various sites this password service, available in free and subscription versions, makes life easier by generating truly random passwords and storing them in a vault, access to which is via a single password and secondary authentication, such as fingerprint, eye recognition, or message, to ensure nobody else can access your passwords. The free version works on a single device, the subscription service offers multi-device usage and online storage.
Second Gadget of the Week is the Bluetti AC200P Portable Power Station. This heavy duty powerpack has multiple outputs, including wireless charging, and is capable of running a fridge for 11 hours, a CPAP machine for 42 hours, a laptop for 28, a TV for 15, even a 1600w hairdryer for over an hour. Ideal for those who enjoy having some luxuries while camping or simply want to be prepared for power cuts, this can even be charged using optional solar panels.
You can hear the Gadget Detective on BBC Surrey & Sussex every third Monday just after 2pm and can follow and contact him on Twitter @gadgetdetective. If you enjoy these shows please consider subscribing and leaving a review, thanks!
