“When he first brought it up, he merely mentioned it as a passing comment. We were discussing the importance of self-control when he said, “Nothing controls like the Shadow…”
“The what?” I asked, glancing up from my notes. He appeared pale and there was a fright in his eyes that I had never seen before. He appeared to be looking toward one of the darker corners of my office.”
