NORWAY: BEV SALES SURGE TO NEW RECORDS IN MARCH 2022
- Last month, 14,930 passenger plug-in electric cars were registered (up 15% year-over-year). The plug-in market share improved to a new all-time record of 91.9%.
- The most important is the new all-time monthly record of all-electric car registrations. In March, 13,983 new BEVs were registered (up 62%), which translated into a record share of 86.1%. No other country can match Norway in terms of all-electric car share.
- Stats for the month: BEVs: 13,983 (up 62%, at 86.1% market share) + 1,336 "used" + 495 new vans PHEVs: 947 (down 78%, at 5.8% market share)
- In March, Tesla delivered a high number of 3,305 Model Y, which allowed the model to become the most registered car not only for the month but also for the first quarter (with 3,328 units YTD).
- the second-best for the month and year-to-date is the Tesla Model 3
- The third most popular model was the Volkswagen ID.4 with 1,111 registrations in March
TESLA MODEL 3 BECAME THE 2ND BEST-SELLING CAR IN GERMANY IN MARCH 2022
- Tesla Model 3 became the second best-selling car, regardless of powertrain, in Germany in March 2022. The American manufacturer's electric car was only surpassed by the much more affordable VW Golf.
- The Model Y produced at Giga Berlin also played an important role in the final figures. The factory made deliveries of the first 30 vehicles on March 22, after which Tesla delivered to several more delivery centers across the country. With the Model Y shipped from Giga Shanghai, sales of the model were 2,529 units. This brought Model Y to second place, behind Model 3, in the EV segment.
VOLVO CARS REPORTS 41% GROWTH IN Q1
- Geely-owned Volvo Cars has reported the best first quarter in its history as the company’s global sales increased by 40.8 per cent compared with the same period last year.
- In Europe and the US, the company managed to improve sales compared to the first quarter last year, while managing to cope with the ongoing effects of the pandemic.
- Volvo Cars’ Recharge line-up of chargeable models, with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain, remained strong and accounted for 26.0 per cent of all Volvo cars sold globally in March. In Europe, the share of Recharge cars of overall sales was 39.0 per cent.

WITH TESLA UPDATE 2022.12 YOU CAN ADD SEAT HEATERS, WIPERS AND MORE BACK TO THE LAUNCHER
- Tesla has started releasing the latest software update with 2022.12.1. One of the biggest features of this release is the ability to customize the launcher even further.
- With the introduction of v11 last December, Tesla introduced a personalized launcher but in doing so also removed some features that were previously available in the launcher.
- With 2022.12.1, Tesla is adding the ability for you to add all of these buttons back if you choose to.
- 2022.12 adds the ability for you to add Front Defrost, Rear Defrost, Seat Heaters, and Wipers to the launcher.
TESLA LOBBIES IN CHINA TO EASE TRUCK MOVEMENT, REPORT SAYS
- Foreign multinationals including Tesla and German hi-tech plastics firm Covestro are lobbying China's government to allow more truck drivers to work between Shanghai and other regions as their business is hit hard by the city's Covid-19 curbs, the South China Morning Post said in a report Saturday.
- Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Giga Shanghai has been unable to get parts to keep its production lines running since late last month because of a lack of special passes for truck drivers in the Shanghai lockdown, the report said, citing an executive at the auto parts maker who declined to be named.
- The report did not provide more information about Tesla, but cited Richard Fu, a spokesman for Covestro, as saying that logistical constraints remain the biggest challenge, especially with uncertainty about cross-province transportation and supply along the value chain.
- Giga Shanghai produces about 6,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles a week
