In this week’s ship.energy podcast, Mark Williams talks to Marcus Schaerer, General Manager of Technical Services at Shell Marine. 

Marcus explains Shell’s innovative approaches to engine monitoring technology and outlines the company’s vision for marine fuel and lubricants in a multi-energy future. He also discusses energy demand – in the decades ahead and, importantly, in the run-up to 2030.

Based in Hamburg, Marcus has spent over 25 years in the maritime industry, starting from his time as a ship chandler. He joined Shell in 1997 where his responsibilities have included overseeing the company’s sales, marketing and technical teams.

Outside work, Marcus has a passion for cooking, stemming from his hospitality training at Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL)
