Joyful Company of Singers: Music for Passiontide with Visually Impaired Musician Kate Risdon, Thursday 31 March 2022 at 7pm

One of Europe’s most prominent chamber choirs, the Joyful Company of Singers, is known for its virtuosity and intensity of spirit as well as for an astoundingly wide repertoire, ranging from the 16th Century to the present day, including many first performances.
Formed in 1988 by conductor Peter Broadbent MBE, the choir have had links with the RNIB for a number of years now and many of their choral concerts feature performances by blind and partially sighted musicians too.
For their up-coming concert ‘Towards the Light Music for Passiontide” on Thursday 31 March at 7pm there will also be performances of works for piano and flute by Alain and Arnold with visually impaired musician Kate Risdon (flute) and Fergus Black (piano).
Connect Radio’s Toby Davey caught up with Peter Broadbent MBE, Musical Director of the Joyful Company of Singers to find out more about the background to the setting up of the choir, their links with the RNIB and working with visually impaired musicians as well as a flavour of the works that they will be performing at their up-coming concert ‘Towards the Light Music for Passiontide’, on Thursday 31 March 2022 at 7pm.
