Group Therapy: Staying for the Dog?

She would’ve broken up with him, if it weren’t for his dog, Daisy. In fact, she's ready to end it with him, but is asking how she keeps Daisy in her life? Has anyone successfully adopted their partner's dog while at the same time breaking up with him? Possible or crazy?
