Amrit started losing her sight aged 5. She speaks to Ellie about what it was like growing up only knowing the medical model and how things changed when she became awear of the social model. After 15 years out of work raising her children, Amrit decided she wanted to use her experience to improve the lives of others and started volunteering. SHe has sense become a role model for young blind and partially sighted girls, especially from a South Asian background, that she felt she never had growing up. She discusses all this and more in her conversation with Ellie Marsh.
