SRSG concerned over slow implementation of the peace process in South Sudan
Episode 1895, Mar 08, 2022, 08:10 AM
The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for South Sudan says the slow implementation pace of the peace process could undermine the peace agreement. Briefing the UN Security Council on the situation in South Sudan on Monday, Nicholas Haysom said the accumulation of unfulfilled commitments is a worrisome trend that has fueled sub-national violence and continues to impact the economy. Mr. Haysom regretted the indefinite postponement of a principals’ retreat in Kampala and said the setbacks and delays come at a cost in the final 12 months of the transitional period.
