In early 2021 TransGrid proposed to construct two high-voltage transmission lines, an electricity superhighway 180km long, through productive agricultural land from Merriwa in the Upper Hunter north west towards Cassilis, and south of Dunedoo towards Wellington.
The Merriwa-Cassilis Alliance Incorporated was formed to protest the eastern portion of the study corridor which lies between Merriwa and Cassilis and after much discussion the group received some great news last Friday>
