31st January 2022 - Tech Talk & Reviews on BBC Surrey & Sussex
Feb 03, 2022, 05:07 PM
Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Danny Pike on BBC Radio Surrey & Sussex to discuss the latest in all things tech. This time; Neil Young's music has been removed from Spotify after the singer protested the platform carrying Joe Rogan's podcast due to it spreading Covid misinformation, and now Joni Mitchell and other artists look to follow him in leaving. What responsibilities do platforms like Spotify have to ensure what they host isn't potentially dangerous?
First Gadget of the Week are the Amazfit PowerBuds Pro. These truly wireless waterproof earbuds have active noise cancelling powered by 6 microphones, plus a heartrate monitor that's ideal if you're wearing them while exercising. They connect to an app on your phone to sync data for sports monitoring and offer 9 hours' playback on a charge and come with a charging case offering a total of 30 hours. They scored 4 out of 5
Second Gadget of the Week Pocketalk S. This pocket sized translator connects to the internet either over wifi or via a sim card, which is supplied with two years' data allowance, and can translate over 80 languages by simply speaking into it or by pointing the inbuilt camera at some text and its touch sensitive screen. With 4.5 hours' translation time and 2.5 day standby time on a charge, this is an ingenious gadget that scored 3.5 out of 5
