Vidar Hjarding MBE - Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Audio Described Theatre Review
Season 1, Episode 1096, Jan 28, 2022, 02:00 PM
RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey is joined again by Vidar Hjarding MBE, Inclusion and Diversity Consultant for ITV News across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the channel Islands for the next in his regular Connect Radio audio described theatre reviews.
This time Vidar was reviewing the audio described performance of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ at the Birmingham Hippodrome which sees Jason Donovan take up the role of Ring Master of a travelling circus which may be slightly different to the Goldilocks story that we all know from our childhood.
The production was brought to life for Vidar with audio description by Hippodrome regular Describers Julia Grundy and Jonathan Nash.
Vidar began his review by telling Toby that ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ is a good fun show for all the family although with the story being slightly different to the Goldilocks we all know.
Vidar felt that Jason Donovan in the role of the Ring Master who is essentially the baddy of the show really helped to get the audiences involved including the kids with all the audience participation that is found in a traditional Pantomime and how Hippodrome regular Matt Slack as the real funny guy of the show was very topical with his jokes.
Vidar ended by suggesting that a good pantomime is a great introduction to the theatre for the whole family.
