Business Bite - If you are in business…you are in sales
Season 2, Episode 21, Mar 23, 2022, 01:21 AM
In this episode, we agree to disagree with our opinion regarding selling. My other half is one of the biggest cynics when it comes to salespeople. He hails from a long line of skeptics and has quite a negative view of salespeople despite the fact he has been married to a highly successful saleswoman for over 40 years and enjoys the spoils of her success.

INTRODUCTION
True to Me
In our house, we agree to disagree with our opinion regarding selling. My other half is one of the biggest cynics when it comes to salespeople. He hails from a long line of skeptics and has quite a negative view of salespeople despite the fact he has been married to a highly successful saleswoman for over 40 years and enjoys the spoils of her success.
He thinks I’m an easy target when it comes to buying product from a first-class salesperson. He has a real aversion about being ‘sold to’ and is always looking for the angles. You may be able to relate to his sentiments as I know he isn’t alone.
After 30 plus years working in some form of sales role, from shop girl to the general manager, I have discovered that every one of us is in sales and selling on a daily basis. I recognise this concept challenges many people. But think about it. How often do you attempt to ‘sell’ your idea or opinion? Whether trying to convince a friend to buy a dress that looks good on her, a daughter not to take drugs or a husband to mow the lawn. We are all trying to sell an idea to get the results we want. And depending on how good you are at the sales process, you may or may not end up with a mown lawn, a healthy child, and a friend with a maxed-out credit card.
Have I convinced you that you are a salesperson yet?
