Season 1, Episode 1080, Jan 18, 2022, 04:00 PM
Now for the first of regular features here on RNIB Connect Radio to highlight what is on offer at the National Theatre in London for blind and partially sighted people.
Our Toby Davey was joined by David Bellwood, Head of Access at the National Theatre. David began by giving Toby a bit of background to his life in theatre from performing as a professional dancer in a very well known touring Irish dancing show, then almost 15 years as Access Manager at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre to joining the NT as their Head of Access in November 2021.
David then explained to Toby about the audio description offer at the National Theatre, from audio described performances with touch tours, educational work, the wealth of audio described productions that are available through ntathome.com, the theatre’s online streaming platform to looking at how to make the tours of the NT more accessible to blind and partially sighted people when they are able to start up again.
Then to highlight and talk about two up-coming audio described shows -
Wuthering Heights - Saturday 26 February, 2pm, touch tour 12.30pm
Our Generation - Saturday 5 March, 2pm, touch tour 12.30pm
And then ending with a flavour of what is on offer with audio description via ntathome.com.
