Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Bill Buckley for a New Year's Day edition with four of the best gadgets of the last year.
The Soundcore Motion Boom. This portable Bluetooth speaker offers 30watts of audio power and is designed for outdoor use, but can be used indoor too. With great sound quality even at high volumes, IPX7 waterproofing, very good battery life with the ability to use it as a charger for other devices, has an accompanying app that allows you to alter the equalizer, and can even be paired up with another one for wider stereo separation and supports fast charging. It scored 4.5 out of 5
The Roku Streambar. This hybrid sound bar sits below your TV and gives you much better sound quality than the average TV features but, unlike other soundbars, it also allows you to access a whole host of extra streams such as BritBox, Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, Disney+ etc in 4K HDR quality, it'll even reduce the perceived volume of adverts. It scored 4 out of 5
The Sandisk Extreme Pro external SSD. This external USB-C storage contains a superfast solid state drive and is available in a range of sizes from 500gb up to 2TB, and can be attached to a PC, Mac, or games console to give you extra space for all your files.
The Synology DS220+ NAS Enclosure. This NAS, Network Attached Storage, unit connects to your router and allows you to store your files in the same way as a cloud service but in a convenient location that's under your control. This gadget has space for two drives allowing for redundancy if one drive fails.
