Animal welfare groups have rejected the NSW greyhound racing industry’s development application for a 400-dog facility in the Hunter Valley facility because it fails to address the required planning instruments and won’t provide quality of life for retired ex-racers.
Animal Liberation NSW has submitted a formal objection to Muswellbrook Shire Council, while the Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds (CPG) said the proposed facility was not a true sanctuary.
Animal Liberation NSW regional campaigns manager, Ms Lisa Ryan discusses the decision.
