Jackie Martling is a stand-up comedian, writer, radio personality, author and actor. In 1979, to help promote the fledgling comedy shows he was producing, he created a "dial-a-joke" telephone line in his parents' attic, "Use Your Finger! (516) 922-WINE." A big break for Jackie was when the top Los Angeles drive-time radio show, The Rick Dees Show, discovered the line and hired Jackie to star in his own designated joke segment. It was then that Rick Dees gave Martling his nickname, "The Joke Man." Jackie is best known for his eighteen years as head writer and a cast member on the Howard Stern Show. A comedy headliner since 1979, he has released three comedy lp’s, six 78-minute dirty joke CDs, three videos, a DVD (A Safe Distance from Genius), six joke books including 1998's best-selling Simon & Schuster title, Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling's Disgustingly Dirty Joke Book and the iPhone app The Jackie Button. Martling appeared as himself in the comedy documentary The Aristocrats and the comedy film Comedy’s Dirtiest Dozen. He has been featured in many films, including Mail Order Bride, Venus & Vegas, White Irish Drinkers and Send No Flowers. Martling released his first music album, Happy Endings, in 2007, co-produced by guitarist Frank Vignola. In 2010, Martling wrote and performed a one-man show that ran in New York City titled JokeLand on Broadway. His autobiography “The Joke Man: Bow to Stern,” was published in 2017. Jackie still performs all over .. his shows are always listed on his web site, jokeland.com .
