Episode 1475, Nov 18, 2021, 01:08 AM
The Mid Murray Council is tapping into the stellar potential of the region’s International Dark Sky Reserve with a new Astro Tourism Strategy.
The only one of its kind in Australia, the River Murray Dark Sky Reserve was formally accredited in late 2019 and remains one of the darkest – and best – places to view the wonders of the night sky in the world.
Council is developing a masterplan for the area to identify areas to step up tourism facilities, including viewing platforms, an observatory and/or a planetarium. One development already underway is private observatory Swan Reach Imaging.
Paul Haese from Swan Reach Imaging joins Jennie Lenman in this podcast to discuss.
