Oscar Rewind: 12 Years A Slave
Season 4, Episode 155, Jan 10, 2022, 02:00 PM
We did it again! We've watched nine wonderful films from the 2013-2014 season. The movie that took the cake, 12 Years A Slave, is up for review by The Roomies this week and believe it or not, We Have Thoughts... (I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.)
It's no secret that we don't love watching films that depict people in pain. Especially people of color. It feels easy, and awards bait-y. The novelty of this film is the beginning, where we find our hero a free man, only to be kidnapped into slavery. Steve McQueen at the helm of this film made us feel like we were in safe hands. He provided a beautiful film that is rich in color and texture, as well as told boldly by its lead cast.
Tell us what you think of this Best Picture winner! What did you think of the season? We want to know! Find us over on Twitter and Instagram!
