We apply that phrase in this show to mean: the market, in its current outsized place in our culture, and which functions as an impersonal deity, scrambles traditional ways of assigning value and meaning.
The Market, as a demanding god, revalues human values. And, sorry to say, it's not for the flourishing of human beings and all of creation.
